flower.ware: discover how flowers are not just a beauty to behold. flowers can give an exceptional boost to dishes, and are tasty bites.
bread.ware 1: discover the power of simplicity. make various kinds of flatbread & bread toppings of seasonal vegetables and fruits.

inspirational concepts
almost daily we create contemporary foods and goods, in a more or less structured way. inspirational concepts like ‘black’ or ‘faith, hope & love’ are guiding our creative perspective on foods and eating.
in this way almost every week new dishes, products and bites are originating from our eat’inspirations & shop’in collections and/or eat’in.specials.
in november & december 2009 our inspirational concept has been ‘honest’. in the beginning of 2010 our design process will be guided by:
- january 2010: black & fashion;
- february 2010: warmth & sharing;
- march 2010: green, the new black.
our first inspirational concept: black
we presented ourselves, our business concept and our ambitions for the first time in the open at the festival for mobile kitchens in 2008 which took place at amsterdam’s culture park westergasfabriek. and therefore, we have been looking for an appropriate inspirational theme for this first performance. this we found in ‘black’.

‘the hidden talents of black’ was our first inspirational concept, and black has become a kind of a signature theme for de culinaire werkplaats.
black, the meaning. black food.ware can be interpreted in many ways. most people associate black food or ingredients with ‘burned food’. in daily life black has not always a positive connotation: black humor, black magic, black is synonym for death.
black, the colour. 100% black only exist in theory. in daily life we see various blacks: blueish black, purple black, brownish black. These different kind of blacks you see also on your plate. Blueish black you see for instance with certain types of corn, some potatoes are purple black and a lot of mushrooms are brownish black.
a glimpse of our black.list. black sesame seed, black onion seed, black mustard seed, black basil, black beans, black soya beans, black chickpeas, black seaweed, black mushrooms (e.g. trompettes de la mort), black carrots, black tomatoes, black olives, black peppers, and so on……
black.collection. we have developed a black foodware.collection. every dish, bite, or ready-to-eat product contains at least one black ingredient. it are all vegetable ingredients that are naturally black. we do not colour ingredients with non vegetable products like squid ink.
black.ware favorites in the category savourish are for instance black sesame pesto, black marinated olives in dark chocolate, black spring rolls, black papadums,roasted black potatoes with croquettes of black mushroom. And last but not least: favorite sweetish blacks are balls of apricots in black sesame seed, muffins loaded with black prunes and cool cocktail squares of blackberries on lime foam.

- decoration: for instance garnish black rice with a colourful flower such as orange violets;
- health: the pigments of black ingredients contain a lot of antioxidants;
- the amount of black ingredients that exist!!!

it’s a blend of a design studio, a restaurant, a shop, a cooking studio, a gallery, and some other ’secret’ ingredients.
