jan 02, 2012: hip & hot magazine

we launched the new year with various photoshoots. for example hip & hot magazine invited us for the foodstyling (recipes+ styling) and photografy of 3  valentine dishes. off course a menu in which red is leading. the dishes:

  • love = comfortable but slightly different: bitterbal with a filling of red cabbage stew on a salate of marinated red cabbage with a few mushrooms.
  • love = sharing everything: long pasta ribbons  with a ‘pesto’ of red beets, walnuts and dill.
  • love = warmth: chocolate bonbons with a filling of marinated pears and a sirup of red port.

dec 2011: images of eat’inspiratie surprise, surprise

fancy surprises and presents? ever tasted pieces of new year’s resolutions or had a portion of dreaming of a white xmas. in our december 2011 eat’inspiration surprise, surprise! you had your chance, as we presented 5 dutch festive december classics, but with a huge twist.

on the menu:

  • coupe new year’s resolutions: a savourish ‘oliebol’, foamy champagne and marinated pears;
  • dreaming of a white xmas?: 3 stews of root parsley, jerusalem artichoke and brussels sprouts; some mushrooms and crisps of jerusalem artichoke;
  • pièce de résistance: dried tomatoes-almond pie accompanied by green peas and black potato;
  • presents:  wonton dough with a filling of fiques and 5 december spices, on sweetened black venere rice and a coulie of tangerine;
  • punch revisited: frozen fruits marinated in white wine and mint on foamy red port.

Landelijke top 10 en toplijstjes per regioin november  specialbite.com has launched their  2012 edition with the 501 most special restaurants of the netherlands.

to our surprise de culinaire werkplaats is number 8 of the top 10 restaurants of amsterdam according to specialbite.  we feel very honoured.

02 dec 2011: ‘n zoen van de dames reiziger

in the 2nd half of november 2011 the ladies reiziger, two dutch culinary journalists, appeared to have enjoyed the eat’inspiration spoons full of honesty at de culinaire werkplaats.

at the end of november we received a phonecall from a photographer of the Algemeen Dagblad (dutch daily newspaper). he wanted to take some pictures as a review about de culinaire werkplaats by the ladies reiziger would be published on saturday december 2nd.

you all will understand that the first thing we did on that specific saturday was buying a copy of this newspaper.

we would like to thank the ladies for their kiss.:)

new arrival: ztrdg keukentafelboek no 1

ZTRDG, a well-known dutch on-line food magazine has also an off-line version:  the  ZTRDG kitchen table book No 1. It’s a collection of recipes,  great food heroes, restaurants and shops.

The super thick ZTRDG kitchen table book No 1 costs € 25,00 incl. vat, and to our regret only available in dutch.

Now also available at de culinaire werkplaats, one of the many food friends of ZTRDG.

 

9 november 2011: puur restaurant week 2012 award ceremony

from november 14 – 20, 2011 it was pure restaurant week 2011 in the netherlands, previously known as the fair trade restaurant week.

de culinaire werkplaats is one of the participants of this restaurantweek and one of the 6 nominees for the award ‘the purest restaurant of nl 2012′. the other nominees are: aangenaam (haarlem), fifteen (amsterdam), merkelbach ( amsterdam), de veldkeuken (culemborg) and natuurlijk (egmond aan zee).

the jury report on de culinaire werkplaats:

de culinaire werkplaats combines sustainability and creativity inimitably. the entrepreneurs do everything to make guests feel and experience how great it is to elevate sustainability to art. (martine zuil, jurymember and chief editor misset horeca & catering).

to our regret we could not be present at the award ceremony. we congratulate all the nominees and the winner ‘natuurlijk’.

10 nov 2011: launch chocomania – the body shop

on november 10, 2011 the body shop launched ‘chocomania’  to the dutch press.  chocomania is a collection of body products varying from  body scrub to shampoo in which fair trade chocolate is the main ingrediënt.

de culinaire werkplaats hosted the event and made especially for the launch 5 noshes and nibbles.

starting point for these bites are the textures of the various products, and all the edible ingrediënts used in chocomania, such as sesame seeds, olives, coconut, and off course dark chocolate as the leading character.

an installation illustrated that chocolate consists of an enormous amount of components, over 800, such as vitamins, minerals, all kinds of antioxidants, etc.

'n knollentuin

we hear very often people say that they can taste that certain ingredients are organic or not

with respect to our november theme ‘honest’ our guests can not only enjoy our eat’inspiration spoons full of honesty. we offer from november 11 – 26, 2011 every guest the opportunity to participate  in a blind tasting of vegetables and fruits.

we are extremely interested who can taste the best (non) organic ingredients, the (non) fair trade ingredients or regional products.

the results and the winner will be announced at the end of november 2011.  the winner receives an eat’inspiration for 2. meer…
