is water, the new champagne? how can a routine be a unique experience at the same time? ever seen so many hidden gems? by the way .. do you know that the turbulence of our daily life and the human nature can be expressed with just one simple pear?

it are complex times, and a new era requires new ways of approaching & doing things, new solutions and rethinking the future.

  • the eat’inspiration sign of the times is about the new luxury, is about less and more.
  • explore and experience in 5 dishes –transparency, stones, pearls, water and essence– a small selection of the many new luxuries offered by the future and the dinnerplate of the future.


  • specially for the 20th edition of amsterdam fashion week (january 17 – 27, 2014) we will translate sign of the times to a trendforecast in which food & fashion meet.


  • sign of the times is the 3rd of a 3-part series of eat’inspirations exploring the notion TIME, it is a adventure to search for new tastes, textures, food pairings and new ways of eating using TIME as inspirational concept.
  • sign of the times is at  the same time inspired by an eating special which we created specially for the moscow design museum in the context of the exhibition new luxuries (nov 14 – jan 12, 2014).



japan food experience

de culinaire werkplaats is one of the participants of the japanese food experience (february 15-23, 2014). a special programme presented by JRO, the Organization to Promote Japanese Restaurants Abroad together with The Wine & Food Association.

on february 13 or 14 the participants can expect to receive a black box with japanese ingredients. these ingredients can be used in an existing menu or in a dinner special.

during the week of the japanese food experience guests will have the opportunity to experience the japanese cuisine not in a traditional manner but as a fusion between european and japanese cuisine.

de culinaire werkplaats will be using the black box ingredients in the eat’inspiration ‘sign of the times’, in which already 2 dishes are inspired by japan: blossoming stones & essence.

on february 15, 21, and 22, 2014 the eat’inspiration sign of the times will showcase japanese flavours as well.

the theme: all the senses

  • much of our time is spent online. during this 2nd edition of ninety minutes of frame food, scent and sound designers will present their cutting-edge work to get you back in touch with your senses. you will be able to sample different tastes and smells throughout the event.
