wear or where to eat…

after their successful debut ‘taste the unwearables’, followed by ‘tasty textiles’ de culinaire werkplaats participated for the 3rd time as downtown location of amsterdam international fashion week in juli 2010. especially for this occasion the designers couple marjolein wintjes and eric meursing created a conceptual edible fashion collection inspired by the theme ‘wear or where to eat…’.  in this 3rd collection food, fashion and sustainability meet at various levels.the inspirational concept is interpreted in several ways, such as:

  • a few installations  (see slideshow)
  • an eat’inspiration of 5 dishes.

installations ‘wear or where to eat’

the edible fashion collection consists of a few installations illustrating one of the most important food trends of the moment, namely the choice for local ingredients and products.

the installation consists of various black dresses of which the fabrics are the breeding ground for various vegetables and sprouts. in other words, you are wearing your personal kitchen garden.

at the same time….

the installations are reflecting the possibility to develop fashion fabrics using locally produced plants, grains, etc.

eatinspiration ‘wear or where to eat’

the designers couple marjolein & eric are creating and making always new eating concepts by translating an inspirational theme into 5 dishes.

the theme ‘wear or where to eat’ inspired the couple to pay a tribute to the little black dress using local ingredients. every fashion designer has a LBD in his or her collection. so marjolein and eric felt they should follow suit because of their signature  ‘black’ eat’inspirations. with this eat’inspiration they express  again their motto food equals fashion. at the same time they emphasizethe importance to reduce your foodmiles as much as possible.
