oct 25, 2010: best benelux vegetables restaurant 2011

de culinaire werkplaats and  ‘t aards paradijs of nevele (belgium) won the contest of the best benelux vegetable restaurant.

the contest eat more vegetables is a initiative of groentekok® (vegetable cook) frank fol, it is a call for more vegetables and more creativity with vegetables on the dinnerplate of restaurants.

de culinaire werkplaats shares this ambition with frank fol, and therefore we participated in this contest.

reviews of guest, menus, an anonymous visit of an inspector of gault millau and a visit by the jury (frank fol and foodwriter marc de clercq) led to the verdict.

the award ceremony took place at october 25, 2010, in kortrijk (belgium) at a lovely location, quinze & milan designers showroom.

we received  a piece of art by quinze, a personalized chefs jacket, the book series  think vegetables and some nice wines that match vegetables.

furthermore we have enjoyed the attention and a great 5 course diner created by wouter vandervieren of restaurant clandestino in haasdonk (belgium), the last year’s winner, and frank fol.

It is an enjoyable experience as you can share your ambition for more vegetables on the plate with your collegues. we are proud to be together with lieven and  isabella lootens of het aardse paradijs an ambassador for the initiative to eat more vegetables for a full year. it’s a pitty we may not defend our title in next year’s competition.
