vooruitblik eerste maanden 2013

in 2013 there will be a large number of activities in our program ranging from eat’inspirations, installations, exhibitions to pop up eating specials & dining experiences, lecturers and… you will find us and / or our work a number of times abroad. england, italy and germany are already in our agenda. so … no lack of variety.

in september 2013 de culinaire werkplaats celebrates its 5th anniversary. therefore during this “jubilee” year we let pass all our most favorite themes, but of course from a new perspective.

7 sept t/m 13 okt 2012: a postcard from shanghai

with the food narrative ‘a postcard from shanghai‘ we want to share with you in 5 dishes the most striking impressions of our visit to both shanghai and south korea earlier this year.

in may 2012 we’ve been for two projects to south korea and  a couple of days to shanghai. 24 hours a day you hear car horns in shanghai, the city a so huge that even taxi drivers get lost. shanghai is an incredibly dynamic city, a city that seems tireless and never sleeps. everywhere you look there is laundry hanging outside to dry, everywhere you stumble over stray mops, pedestrians & cyclists are sharing the sidewalk, it’s an incredible experience.

the huge range of contrasts combined with the dynamics of shanghai, and add to this combination the cheerfulness of the chinese, all these ingredients of shanghai have touched us. indeed, marjolein is still homesick for shanghai.

what kind of postcards and stories you can expect on your dinnerplate? for example, you get a postcard of mr & mrs bund and we surprise you with our interpretation of the signature dish of this restaurant, another postcard illustrates the special flavours of’ moganshan reserve,  you also get to know a man who is calling in front of his home dressed in his bright blue pj’s, and we send you a typical urban landscape on a plate representing the colourful laundry of shanghai.

14-15-16 sept 2012: dinner.talks @ smaakexplosies

during the 4th edition of smaakexplosies, a cultural & culinary festival, we worked on project dinner.talks.

usually we chat quite a lot as we dine, we improve the world, we discuss the highlights of the day, share intimacies, and if dinner tastes really delicious we even swap recipes and cooking tips. but … often we are so noisy while we’re eating that the stories of you dinner most of the time are lost … so we thought it’s time to work on some dinner.talks, two interactive installations: black + colourful dinner.talks.

hush ………… if you are very gently and listen very carefully, you might hear what your dinner is telling you.

usually we are talking away while we are eating, we improve the world, we discuss the highlights of the day, we share intimacies, and if dinner tastes really nice we even swap recipes and cooking tips. but…. often we are so noisy while we are eating that the stories of your dinner most of the time are lost… so now it’s  time for some dinner.talks.

as you can see in the picture, de culinaire werkplaats got again a very, very nice space at this year’s smaakexplosies (cultural and culinary festival taste explosions). here you will find the stories that your dinner tells. at certain moments there will be some temporary dinner.talks with guests.

and you can participate as well, as you can contribute with your yesterday’s dinner to the installation, which marjolein will built together with the visitors during the festival. the installation will be reflecting the dinner.talks of the festival visitors.

you can visit dinner.talks a co-production by de culinaire werkplaats and sanna rosendahl during the festival smaakexplosies on: fri sept 14 from 16 – 19 hrs plus sat sept 15 and sun sept 16: 11 – 18 rs.

by the way, our restaurantsection in amsterdam is open on sept 14 & 15, though with adjusted opening hours. friday sept 14 and saturday sept 15 we have reservations from 19 – 22 hrs.

20-21-27-28 juli 2012: urban landscapes episode 2

city slickers please note! on july 20, 21, 27 and 28 juli 2012 you can for the last time book for eat the city, taste the city in 5 urban landscapes; episode 2, a make-over from episode 1.

with the 2nd episode of eat the city we close the 3-part series ‘landscapes & architecture’.  after the eat’inspirations dutchgarden landscapes an at random selection of 5 urban landscapes highlights this food narrative.

you can nibble on a foot scape, legally have some bites out of a guerilla garden and experience the taste of adisposal spot. a recent visit to shanghai has inspired us to an interpretation of a metropolitan skyline and last but not least you’ll find a real amsterdam street corner at your dish.

for downtown amsterdam fashion week we created a 3 days only eat’inspiration RAW: a colour & texture forecast for fashion fabrics summer 2013 in 5 dishes. and at the same time a forecast for food.

RAW is not about raw food, RAW is a notion that encompasses various trends, a reflection of the Zeitgeist. the most striking features we have captured in dishes forecasting for future food & fashion. these are: native, earth, unique, unfinished and naturel.

the dish naturel features the meaning of naked expressed by the notion RAW. and naked reminded us of adam, eve, and apple.  so a dish was born, we translated naturel or naked in 5 different preparations of apple to illustrate apple naturel.

in other words: without food there would be no fashion.

 

12-13-14 juli 2012: raw. where food & fashion meet.

take a bite of RAW. an unparalleled food = fashion forecast s/2013 and beyond… in 5 dishes. by the way, RAW is not synonymous with raw food or raw vegetables. but what do we dish up instead?

the main ingredients of RAW are roughness/unfinished, essence, reflection, trial-error, transparancy, , artisan, basic, roots, naturel, sweat & love, and unique/only copy.

at this very moment people and organizations are in the middle of re-inventing their relationship with nature, with their social environment and with themselves. we visualize this re-interpretation process and trend with the concept of RAW.

we have translated the most striking features of RAW to 5 dishes for you. the result: a color and texture forecast for  food & fashion S/2013 and beyond … which can only be experienced by eating.

it is already the 7th time that we created a culinary adventure for the downtown programme of amsterdam fashion week.

june 18: national day @ world expo south korea

we are pleased to inform you that de culinaire werkplaats will be heading for south korea again for the 2nd time on june 14, 2012. together with the organization of the pavilion of the netherlands we will take care of a food experience to mark the national day of the netherlands during the world wxpo 2012 in sout korea, on june 18th.

the world expo 2012 takes place from may 12th – august 12th, 2012 in Yeosu, a beautiful city on the south coast of south korea. the central theme of this year’s expo is: the living ocean and coast: diversity of resources and sustainable activities. meer…
