always wanted to experience an impression of a painting by Van Gogh in bites? in that case we would love to meet you at the event all your senses @ the Van Gogh Museum during MuseumNight 2014.  

we have been invited by the Van Gogh Museum to contribute to the event all your senses. especially for this occasion we have translated 3 paintings by Van Gogh into bites, into eating impressions. and … it is about more than taste only.

the project vincent van gogh.
since the invitation by the Van Gogh Museum eric and marjolein visited the museum a number of times to refresh their memory about this unique artist and the impressionist art time frame. futhermore, they read several publications about vincent’s work and his life.
especially marjolein is very pleased with the invitation. as she just started the project dutch masterpieces, part of the overall project dutch icons revisited.
many of his paintings have been subject to lively discussions between marjolein and eric. ultimately they made a selection of three works, which they translated into three different eating experiences in bites.

sept 2014 – feb 2015 – dutch icons revisited


are you ready to experience so-called dutch icons in a novel way? we hardly can wait to introduce and share our upcoming dutch adventure.
from september 2014 until february 2015 most of our food, art + design activities will focus on exploring the dutch dna by re-visiting all kinds of dutch icons.

in this ongoing project we let us inspire by a great variety of dutch themes, like dutch masterpieces, dutch architecture and landscapes, dutch fashion, dutch design, dutch skies, dutch news, etc., etc.

from a novel perspective we will be re-interpreting these themes to eat’inspirations, food narratives, eating experiences at the cross roads of food, art and design resulting in a unique, abstract view on holland.

our first project will be the eat’inspiration anything but flat? in which we explore how flat is the netherlands. our inspirational theme will be dutch landscapes.

in november 2014 we will start exploring all sorts of dutch masters and their masterpieces, in other words we will be in search of excellence.

in february and march 2015 we will run the eat’inspiration dutch treats? which is about freedom of speech in the netherlands. this search is inspired by what happened at charlie hebdo in paris in january 2015.


wake up: the versatility of the exotic coffee bean – a 1st exploration.

all around the world coffee bars are popping up, even in countries where people traditionally drink tea. and… the phenomenon coffee to go did change street life forever.

the challenge. coffee seems so popular, that it is quite interesting to find out what you can do more with it besides brewing and drinking coffee. so we selected 5 coffee beans, all single origins, coming from 5 different countries: brazil, ethiopia, sumatra, guatamala and costa rica. the most popular ingredients available in those countries inspired us to 5 different dishes. in each dish we used coffee in at least one or two different ways. click on this link for the menu of the eat’inspiration wake up.

the result. the eat’inspiration wake up was much to our surprise an unexpectedly huge success. some people were really fascinated by the tomatoes marinated in coffee. furthermore wake up resulted 4 new products: wake up pearls, a marinade ‘the kick inside’, coffee paper, and last but not least we added a new flavour (sumatra coffee) to our collection the breakables.

what did we learn. allthough coffee seems to be extremely popular all around the world we discovered that

  • a lot of people do not like coffee for various reasons. we received a lot of e-mails from people suffering from some kind of caffeine anxiety or problem. for those people we created a decaf version.
  • and we discovered that many people do not like the taste of coffee, and especially refer to the bitterness. but … the most open minded came to experience this eat’inspiration and they all explained afterwards that they enjoyed the taste of the various culinary applications of coffee, very much to their own surprise. so …. we think we can conclude that drinking coffee and using coffee in all kinds of other ways reveals different taste sensations.

each july our eating experiences are inspired by our motto food = fashion and the summer edition of fashion week amsterdam. this year you can expect from us an outlook on fashion, or rather on haute couture, on coffee haute couture!

the contemporary way of producing, selecting, roasting, brewing and drinking coffee has the same allure as fashion. the renewed attention to the exotic coffee bean closely follows the current trend of fashion & interior: a penchant for the past and for foreign countries is reflected in all kinds of exotic designs and accessories. the revival of coffee has also led to the trendy coffee bars and the new profession of coffee sommelier.

wake-up, the eat’inspiration.

  • inspirational source: the coffee bean;
  • consists of five dishes: 3x savourish and 2x sweetish;
  • the 5 dishes of wake-up are inspired by our selection of 5 coffee producing countries, namely: costa rica, ethiopia, guatemala, brazil and sumatra;
  • in addition, we explore in wake-up 5 different single-origin coffee beans and you can experience at least 5 times a new perspective on coffee.
  • all our selected coffees consist of 100% arabica beans contain 70% less caffeine than robusta coffee beans.
  • please note: if you are not into coffee – please book the decaffeinated version.

  • we invite you to share any allergies, dietary restrictions or wishes when you book your eat’in experience. so it is possible for us to tailor our menu. it is a challenge for us to prepare something very special and inspirational for you.

choice of ingredients

  • besides taste and inspirational concept at least 2 of the following criteria also provide for our choice of ingredients, products, and suppliers: animal welfare, small-scale or organic farming, fair trade, direct trade, season, distance, and personal health.

meet sanne muiser, een nieuw gezicht, een nieuwe samenwerking

in march we welcomed a new face aboard. please meet sanne muiser and learn something about her:

hello my name is sanne muiser.

i’m a graduating student of the design academy eindhoven, department man and wellbeing.

i like to celebrate, maybe we all do… and trough the years at the academy i realized that a good celebration comes back at your senses. the way your senses react at a place, circumstance, on food etc. the way we taste, for instance.

this spring period i’ll collaborate for my graduation with De Culinaire Werkplaats to create a celebration of tasting. we will work together on cutlery and food so they will connect with each other. tongue, lips, nose, eyes will be teased and sincere food will be tasted.


onder handen werk: de gouden eeuw

glimpse of a new project……… in other words works in progress. in recent years, the golden age, voc (the dutch united east indian company), the silk road, et cetera, passed by as a kind of side-kick in commissions and all kinds of eat’inspirations. but… we think it is an interesting inspirational theme to explore as an independent theme.

ontbijt “eleonora carisi for zalando” launch

we hosted the eleonora carisi for zalando press launch in the netherlands on tuesday morning march 4, 2014.

we have translated the 9 piece collection into a breakfast eat’inspiration. our inspirational sources: the exotic plants pattern, the colours of the pattern, the texture of the various fabrics, and the nationality of eleonora, an italian blogger. by the way, the collection is produced in italy.

what’s there for breakfast:

  • green tea tiramisu on coffee vanilla crackers;
  • avocado smoothies with marinated roasted tomatoes and basil foam;
  • italian ‘ice-cream’ of creme fraiche, goji berries and dark chocolate;
  • red balls of roasted pepper and almonds on a green leaves salad;
  • green quinoa risotto with marinated strawberries.

we enjoyed working on this project as our motto is food = fashion. furthermore, the plants pattern fits perfectly in our vegetal perspective on the dinner plate on the future.

the styling of the space was taken care of by fusion communicatie.

  • february 13, 2014, the 2nd edition of ninety minutes of frame took place at pakhuis de zwijger, amsterdam.
  • the theme of this 2nd edition is all the senses.
  • 90 minutes of frame is ‘n live event and initiative by frame publishers.

de line up:

  • keynote speaker sissel tolaas, (scent specialist), florian richter (soundscape designer). claim to fame by jorge mañes rubio, and we presented a selection of our portfolio during the final item of this evening: the making of, and we had a small tasting for the audience.
  • last but not least: moderator jeroen junte, design & architecture critic.
